North Central District Health Department (NCDHD) will be hosting a drive through public influenza vaccine clinics in Niobrara on Wednesday, September 30th from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Niobrara Public School parking lot and on Thursday, October 1st from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. in O’Neill behind the NCDHD building. Due to new road construction please access the clinic through the alley behind NCDHD using the WEST entrance and remain in your vehicle. To fast track the clinic process before attending these clinics, complete a vaccine form available on the NCDHD website homepage and have a copy of your insurance card prior to your arrival at the clinic. If needed, NCDHD will have hard copy influenza vaccine forms available as well as making copies of insurance cards as needed.

A graveside funeral services for Lorraine Freouf, age 87 of Ericson, Neb. will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at the Pibel Cemetery in Wheeler County. Reverend Janet Burgel will officiate.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Ericson United Methodist Church. The family will not be present.

North Central District Health Department will be hosting public TestNe clinics this week at the following locations:
• Tuesday, September 22nd in O’Neill from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., access the drive-thru clinic through the East ally entrance behind the NCDHD office.
• Wednesday, September 23rd in Niobrara at the Trading Post from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Cherry County Clinic is also hosting a public TestNe Clinic this week:
• Tuesday, September 22nd from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Pre-registration on testnebraska.com for a testing time is preferred, but not required. Testing at these events is free.
The office of Governor Pete Ricketts has issued an updated Directed Health Measures (DHM) to include details about quarantine and isolation instructions for school aged individuals, teachers, staff, and administration effective Monday, September 21st, 2020 through October 31st, 2020. On Tuesday, September 15, North Central District Health Department (NCDHD) was made aware of 18 additional cases in the district.
Eight cases in the district, through case investigations, have been determined to be due from community spread: 4 in Knox, 1 in Brown, 1 in Pierce, 1 in Antelope, and 1 in Cherry.
Nine cases in the district, through case investigations, have been determined to be due from close contacts with confirmed positive COVID-19 cases: 2 in Knox, 2 in Brown, 1 in Pierce, 2 in Holt, 1 in Antelope, and 1 in Cherry.
One case in Knox County is still under investigation.
NCDHD has reported 60 recoveries throughout the district since the last recovery reporting on Tuesday, September 8th. These include: 11 in Rock, 10 in Knox, 1 in Antelope, 4 in Holt, 13 in Cherry, 19 in Pierce, and 2 in Brown.

A funeral service for David Jon Denker, age 58, of Nacora, Neb. will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 14, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson.
Locally he is survived by his sister Jeanine (Todd) Hale of Atkinson.
Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Emerson.

NCDHD COVID-19 and Risk Dial Updates
On Wednesday, September 9, North Central District Health Department (NCDHD) was made aware of 14 additional cases in the district.
Seven cases in the district, through case investigations, have been determined to be due from community spread: 2 in Holt, 1 in Pierce, 1 in Antelope, 2 in Rock, and 1 in Knox counties.
Six cases in the district, through case investigations, have been determined to be due from close contacts with confirmed positive COVID-19 cases: 3 in Pierce and 3 in Rock.
One new case is currently under investigation in Holt County.
NCDHD has reported four additional deaths in the district. Two deaths in Cherry County, a male in his 80s and a female in her 80s. Additionally, two deaths in Pierce County, both females in their 80s.
NCDHD would like to remind the district that each Wednesday by the end of business day the NCDHD district risk dial is updated. Visit ncdhd.ne.gov to access a link to the risk dial.

West Holt Football Friday, September 11th

Due to an unfortunate circumstance the West Holt football game for this Friday has been canceled. The football team will have a scrimmage starting at 5:30 pm. The little girl drill team will also perform at the half way point of the scrimmage. Concessions will be open and the scrimmage will last about an hour. A funeral service for Evelyn Schrunk, age 94, of Atkinson will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at Seger Funeral Home in Atkinson.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 11 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Atkinson.
Seger Funeral Home is in charge of services.

COVID-19 Cases and Notification of Additional Reporting
North Central District Health Department (NCDHD) has been made aware of 11 additional cases in the district today. One case in Cherry County, four cases in Rock County, and one case in Holt County, through case investigation, have been determined to be from close contact with confirmed COVID-19 positive cases. One case in Cherry County, two cases in Antelope County, and two cases in Rock County, through case investigation, have been determined to be from community spread.
NCDHD would also like to inform the district that we have been aware of information on 23 additional cases reported from the Santee Sioux Nation. These cases are now included in the dashboard and the Knox County case counts.
The dashboard and case count information will be updated with active cases and recoveries as that information becomes available. Case investigations and contact tracing is complete resulting in identifying that some cases are due to community spread and some due to close contacts with other positive cases.
NCDHD would like to note that none of these cases were identified through the recent testing event.
NCDHD updates the district risk dial each Wednesday by end of business day. This week the risk in the NCDHD area remains in the yellow with a slight increase since last week.

Moos to Discuss Cancelled Fall Sports on NET’s ‘Big Red Wrap-Up’
University of Nebraska-Lincoln Athletic Director Bill Moos will join a special a “Big Red Wrap-Up” broadcast on Tuesday, Sept. 1.
NET, Nebraska’s PBS & NPR Stations, will air the show live at 7 p.m. CT on the NET World television channel and Facebook Live, and at 10 p.m. CT on NET. The NET Sports series is live online at netNebraska.org/bigredwrapup or on the NET Nebraska App.
“Big Red Wrap-Up” co-hosts Mike’l Severe and Jay Moore will discuss the Big Ten’s cancelled football season with Moos, and how the decision affects not only football, but also other fall sports such as volleyball.
