The Crofton-Bloomfield wrestling team had a tough night of wrestling in a triangular against Bon Homme and Pierce on Thursday, Jan. 16.
They faced the undefeated South Dakota dual team of Bon Homme to start the night off but lost 48-15, with Crofton-Bloomfield only winning 3 matches. Sr. Wyatt Tramp gave Crofton-Bloomfield their first win with a second period pin against his Bon Homme opponent. Jr. Brock Jeannoutot was next with a 7-1 decision. Fr. Ashton Nelson picked up a second period fall as Crofton-Bloomfield’s last win against Bon Homme.
Next they faced Pierce’s top 10 ranked team and started the dual off with Jr. Tomik Duffy picked up a 3-0 win over his Pierce opponent. So, Trey Tramp picked up the next win with a 5-0 decision. W. Tramp followed up with a 22-5 tech fall. Then a controversial slam call against Crofton-Bloomfield’s Jeannoutot cost Crofton-Bloomfield 6 dual points.
Despite this call taking some of the wind from Crofton-Bloomfield’s sails, Jr. Tyson Sanger picked up a 6-2 win, followed by an Owen Kuchar (Jr.) pin late in the third period. Nelson picked up the team's last points with a first period pin. When the smoke settled, Crofton-Bloomfield dropped the dual 35-26.
“It was pretty disappointing losing to both those teams especially because I know that we are a better team than what we have been showing. It was nice to see kids taking steps in the right direction and getting better though.” Said Sr. W Tramp.
