Sr. Rylie Arens and Fr. Bethany Arens were both crowned champions in their weight divisions, helping their team to place 4th with a total of 139 points at the Ord invite on Thursday, January 16.
Four other medalists placed: Sr. Annabelle Poppe (2nd), So. Elizabeth DeRoos (4th), Fr. Rylie Doerr (4th), and Fr. Lorelei Duffy (5th).
R. Arens (140) won all her rounds and scored 30 team points. Arens won by a fall over Lysbeth Quinones (West Point-Beemer). In the quarterfinal Arens won over Miracle Trevino (Bayard), and in the semifinal match Arens won over Payton Whited (Ord). Arens then won over Ava Mahnke (West Point-Beemer) in the championship match.
B. Arens (135) also won all her rounds and scored 28 team points. In round one she received a bye, and in the quarterfinal round Arens won over Delaney Jennings (St. Paul). In the semifinal match, Arens won over Alexis Steinbeck (Mc-Cook). Arens took the championship over Megan Jones (Ainsworth).
A. Poppe (190) placed second and scored 22 team points. Poppe received a bye in round one, and won over Maria Rodriguez-Hernandez (McCook) in the quarterfinal. In the semifinal, Poppe won over Leslie Garcia (Grand Island Central Catholic), and in the first place match Poppe lost to Addison Arvada (Sutherland).
E. DeRoos (170) placed fourth and scored 17 team points. In round one, DeRoos won over Graciah Roberts (Cozad), and in the quarterfinals DeRoos won by major decision over Madalyn Renz (Grand Island Central Catholic). In the semifinals Belle Brodersen (Boone Central) won by major decision over DeRoos. Coming back in the consolation bracket, DeRoose won over Emma Goodrich (Minden), and in the third place match Zoleigh Reffalt (Bayard) won by decision over DeRoos.
R. Doerr (155) placed fourth and scored 18 team points. In round one Doerr won over Autumn Johnson (Minden), and in the quarterfinal Doerr won over Vania Guajardo (Lexington). Briley Koehler (Battle Creek) won over Doerr in the semifinal, and coming back in the consolation semifinal, Doerr won over Kaylee Hunter (McCook). Vania Guajardo (Lexington) won over Doerr in the third place match, landing Doerr in fourth place.
L. Duffy placed fifth and scored 17 team points. In round one Duffy won over Morgan Nincehelser (Plainview). In the quarterfinal Alexis Galusha (St. Paul) won over Duffy. Coming back in the consolation bracket, Duffy won over Milly Villanueva (Lexington), and then won over Jayda Chessmore (Elgin Public/Pope John). Duffy lost to Jasmin Aguirre (Lexington), and then ended the day with a win over Hay-Lynn Glidden (Sandhills-Thedford) for fifth place.
