Four Crofton High School students took the trip down to Lincoln and participated in All-State Choir. Throughout a total of three days (Nov. 20-22) four students, seniors Jack and Grant Schieffer, and juniors Morgan Stevens and Quinn Mosher, participated in a sequence of choir activities.

J. Schieffer stated, “We had several practices spread out over three days with the 440 person choir to learn our parts and our perfect sound.” The students traveled to Lincoln on Wednesday and had a series of practices. On Wednesday, they had their first practice that night, throughout Thursday they had three practices, and on Friday they had more practices followed by a big concert in the evening.

“All-State was a really fun experience. Singing with that size of a choir is always so inspiring and beautiful. It’s such a joy to be around so many talented people. The conductor was very talented and taught us a lot not just about choir, but about life,” stated J. Schieffer.

Grant Schieffer got to experience All-State Choir for the first time, saying “Being able to join together in singing with so many talented people was truly inspiring, and I’m glad that I got the opportunity to be involved in All-State Choir.”

The first time any student from Crofton got to experience All-State Choir was in 1964. In fact, Jack Schieffer’s grandma Ruth Ann Grimm was one of the first to experience it. “My Grandma was in the first group of Crofton students to go to All-State Choir. Sixty years later, I was the first to make it all four years of high school. I think that’s pretty neat. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree,” stated J. Schieffer.
