Breanna and Katelynn Schieffer and their family continue to receive support from all over the region to help with their medical bills and recovery.
The girls returned home to Crofton recently amid an outpouring of love and support. They even received a new donation of $1,706 from the Wausa Student Council. A check was received by Crofton High School Athletic Director, Ann Kramer at the Wausa football game in Crofton last Friday Oct. 11.
The Wausa Student Council and Public Schoolhad decided to go out and help the Schieffer family almost immediately after the accident.
Like many small towns in Nebraska, Wausa and Osmond have many connections with people from Crofton and the Schieffer family since Breanna and Katelynn’s mother, Nancy, was a teacher at Osmond Public School.
As a fundraiser, Wausa passed a donation bucket around at their home volleyball game against Randolph on Sept. 19, raising around $800 for the family. The next day they did the same thing at their home football game vs. Boyd County, raising around $900.
Wausa’s high school principal, Shane Anderson, said that “anytime we can help out, we will,” and it’s just a “small town helping out.”
Support has come from all over northeast Nebraska for the Schieffer girls; and those in, around and outside the community of Crofton have shown their support to the Schieffer family.
Another fundraiser, a breakfast benefit, is being planned by the St. Rose of Lima Knights of Columbus, set for Sunday, Oct. 27, running from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the St. Rose Parish Center in Crofton.
The free will breakfast will include scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes, biscuits and gravy.
