Those who have made plans to travel to Memorial Stadium, Bob Devaney Sports Center, or any other sports complex in Lincoln to watch one of the Nebraska Cornhusker athletic teams compete during the 2024-2025 sports year will be in for a few changes.

The University of Nebraska Athletic Department announced a series of changes on Tuesday, Aug. 22 that fans can expect to see put into motion immediately.

Arguably the biggest of these changes coming to Husker athletic events will be the new feature of cashless operations, which will begin this fall.

While cashless operations have been a thing at Husker men’s and women’s basketball games at Pinnacle Bank Arena, all Husker athletic venues will now implement that into their system, including Husker football. While this may not have been possible in the past, improved Wi-Fi in Memorial Stadium should allow for concessions to operate cashless without problems.

Another big change coming to Husker football will be a new gate screening process at Memorial Stadium this fall.

Nebraska Athletics will utilize a new gate screening process with walk-through technology that is supposed to provide a more efficient screening process and enhance the safety of Husker fans.

While the new technology will help with safety, the new process does not have an impact on Nebraska’s clear-bag policy, which will remain in place for all Husker venues.

Continuing with the theme of technological advancements in Husker athletics, the 2024 fall sports season will mark the final time Nebraska will use printed tickets. After the fall sports season, tickets for all Husker athletic events will be mobile.

The new changes will not only affect the fans, however, but also the Cornhusker athletes. Starting this fall, there will be a new drop off sport and walking path for the Husker football team.

Fans are still encouraged to welcome the Huskers to Memorial Stadium on game days, but from here on out the team will arrive near the intersection of 14th and Vine streets approximately two hours and 15 minutes prior to kickoff.

After the players are dropped off, they’ll walk along the sidewalk past Nebraska Coliseum, through the Nebraska Athletics Hall of Fame, and enter the main lobby of the Osborne Legacy Complex.

The final noticeable change to the upcoming season will be the location of the Husker football team on the field. From here on out, the Huskers will now be located on the west sideline for game days, with the visiting team on the east sideline.

While some of these changes may seem larger than others, all changes are expected to make life easier for Husker fans, athletes, and workers in the future.
