Jack Schieffer attended the Nebraska Music Educators Association (NMEA) All-State Choir from November 16-18.
Over the two and a half days in Lincoln, Schieffer attended approximately 12 hours of choir rehearsals to prepare for the final concert on Saturday, November 18.
This is Schieffer’s third year attending the prestigious choir.
“I first auditioned freshman year because my sisters had made it years prior. It has brought me to so many places,” stated Schieffer. “It was really fun because I got to spend time with my siblings while I was there this year. On top of being simply amazing because of the talent that everyone has, it’s even more special that my family can see me experience it.”
Jack’s sister, Quinn, a three time All-State participant, still loves attending the concert. “I adore watching the performances. Not only do I get to see my brother doing what he loves, but I get to see hundreds of high school students doing the same. It’s a truly special experience.”
Schieffer continued, “A majority of the songs followed a theme of joy. While we were performing one of my favorite songs, ‘I am Glad’, I found myself just grinning from ear to ear. At that moment, I really took it all in. The final song of the performance was entitled ‘I’ll Make a Difference’. It’s a wonderful song that just fills me to the brim with hope. As we finished with that final chord and the audience applauded, I just thought about how lucky I am to be where I’m standing.”
