The Crofton Lady Warriors 12u softball team competed in the Kelly’s Spring Fling Tournament on Friday, May 19 through Sunday, May 21st at Ta-Ha-Zouka Park in Norfolk.
The team got first on the Silver Division, which was probably the equivalent to sixth place out of nine teams. Crofton had two wins against Norfolk Kelly’s-Fite (5-3/6-1) and a win against the Norfolk Quakes (13-5).
Overall, the team went 3-2 during the weekend, losing a game 11-8 against the Wayne Dirt Devils and 12-2 versus the Norfolk Golden Girls.
“The team played really well at times throughout the weekend, showing glimpses of their potential,” said Coach Scott Morrison.
Individually, the girls who competed in the tournament each improved during the tourney.
The tournament started on Friday night as the Warriors played Wayne.
Team members included several six graders: Ella LaCroix, Claire Marsh, Camry Michael, Brielle McCoy, and Maddie Nelson.
The fifth graders included Lauren Connot, Maci Kolterman, Grace Morrison, and Jayden Tramp.
Fourth graders Hadley Becker and Ava Pautler were also there.
The following day saw the Lady Warriors matchup against Norfolk’s Kelly’s-Fite and the Golden Girls.
LaCroix, Marsh, Michael, McCoy, Nelson, Connot, Kolterman, Morrison, Tramp, Becker, and Pautler all participated.
Joining them were Berkley Hames and Paige Nohr.
Based on their performance in the first three games, the Crofton Lady Warriors were placed in the Silver Division where they faced the Norfolk Quakes.
After defeating the Quakes, they matched up against Kelly’s-Fite again.
Girls participating in Sunday’s games included LaCroix, Michael, McCoy, Nelson, Connot, Kolterman, Morrison, Tramp, Becker, Pautler, and Nohr.
