Crofton FCCLA made their way to Lincoln to compete at the State FCCLA Convention Sunday, April 2 through Tuesday, April 4.
As the eight chapter members made their way down to Lincoln, they were prepared to bring home some hardware.
Competing in the STAR competition, eighth grader Olivia Walter performed an Instructional Video Design, Level 1 and qualified for the National FCCLA Convention. Senior Piper Dather prepared pieces of clothing in Fashion Construction, Level 3 and placed 3rd, receiving gold. Finishing, freshmen Lillie Earley and Ella Reinfenrath presented Professional Presentation, Level 2 and placed 7th, earning silver.
Along with Walter going to Nationals, Tomsu and Earley will also be attending the convention to be recognized for Power of One. The National FCCLA Conference will be held July 2-6 in Denver, Colorado.
Prior to the conference, members participated in knowledge tests. Dather competed in Senior Fashion Design and earned first place. Eighth grader Sierra Tomsu participated in junior Child Development and was awarded second place. Tomsu also performed in junior General FCS.

Overall, the Crofton chapter received the Silver Chapter award. The silver chapter award indicates that the chapter completed two requirements in each of the four categories: Membership, Leadership, Promoting FCCLA, and Competitive Events and Programs.
Mrs. Jonelle Thoene, who has been the Crofton FCCLA chapter advisor for seven years, was rewarded with many awards at the state convention: the Spirit of Advising Award, Master Adviser Award, and ACE Adviser Award.
The Spirit of Advising Award recognizes chapter advisors who are faithful and are working hard to have their students strive for success. The Master Adviser Award recognizes advisers who have been successful advising an affiliated chapter for a minimum of three years, promoting the organization, operating an unified chapter with a balanced program of work, helping in youth-centered activities, and keeping new happenings within the organization. The ACE Advisor
Award is given to advisors who strive to go above and beyond to support the needs of their chapter.
This weekend was filled with spring joy with the annual Easter Candy Run at the North City Park supported by Crofton’s Community Club on April 8th. There were over 225 people who attended this event.
Fifty door prizes were awarded and there was over 120 pounds of candy collected in baskets! 158 kids ages 0-4th grade signed up for door prizes.
The Crofton FCCLA chapter took a big part in this event by helping make that day special for everyone.
