Katie Neuharth and Lauren Loecker take home first in JV Duet Acting.

The Crofton Speech Team traveled to Wausa Public Schools to compete in battling rounds Saturday, February 11, and came home with a third place finish. 

The Warriors had three event champions: sophomore Jack Schieffer participated in Humorous Prose, senior Rori Schmidt in Program of Oral Interpretation, and freshman Katie Neuharth and freshman Lauren Loecker competed in JV Duet Acting. 

Junior Elizabeth Wortmann took home an outstanding second place in varsity Entertainment Speaking. Wortmann stated, “At this point into our speech season, I’m excited to continue on in the season and get through conference and districts.” 

Two Warrior performances earned third place: with her speech about Time, freshman Alexa Suing in JV Persuasive Speaking and the Varsity Oral Interpretation of Drama (OID) team, including sophomore Grant Schieffer, sophomore Jack Schieffer, junior Kaylee Mauch, senior Megan Tramp, and senior Rori Schmidt. This year the OID team is performing the piece “A Tiny Miracle with a Fiberoptic Unicorn.” 

Junior Carter Guenther stayed competitive and confident throughout his rounds. He took home fourth place in extemporaneous speaking. 

Many team members placed fifth: Guenther once again, competed in varsity Persuasive Speaking, freshman Ella Reifenrath in JV Oral Interpretation of Poetry, freshman Lauren Loecker in Humorous Prose, freshman Lukas Schantz in JV Entertainment Speaking, Tramp and Wortmann in Varsity Duet Acting and sophomore Rylie Arens in Varsity Oral Interpretation of Serious Prose. 

The Crofton Warrior Speech Team will be hosting its home meet in Crofton at the High School Saturday, February 18 beginning at 8 a.m.
