Jeremiah Kaup, a 2021 graduate of West Holt Public Schools, made waves across the pond with an impressive performance at the International Automotive Smart Repair Exhibition in Japan on Sunday, Dec. 15.
At the exhibition, Kaup competed in the novice division of the Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) competition. The novice division featured technicians that had less than two years of experience in the field of dent repair.
During the competition, Kaup and his competitors were tasked with fixing a dent on the upper portion of a door in just ten minutes.
Despite the numerous people watching and a small time-frame to work with, Kaup flew through the challenge with flying colors and ended up earning fourth-place for his work.
“I was a little nervous going into it (the competition) because it was my first competition as a PDR tech,” Kaup admitted. “But I was pretty confident in my capabilities. It was a wonderful experience as a whole and I couldn’t have had a better time.”
Kaup made the trip to Japan with his bosses at Quality 1st Hail and Auto Spa in Hastings, where he currently works as the Assistant Manager.
