Deer numbers normal for start of rifle deer season

Overall hunting and harvest was pretty normal here, with good  numbers for opening weekend of rifle deer season, according to Nebraska Game and Parks official, Dan VanderVeen, who was working at the Niobrara State Park deer check station Tuesday. The season will close on Sunday, Nov. 21.
